The Challenge

Overcoming Slow Fulfillment & High Costs in an Inventory-Free Model

In 2021, DEKA partnered with Grossman Marketing Group to launch an inventory-free employee merchandise store. While cost-effective, the system had limitations—orders were processed in batches, leading to long turnaround times and higher shipping costs.

To address these inefficiencies, we first introduced a seasonal pop-up model to aggregate orders for better pricing and prioritization. While this improved efficiency, it lacked order flexibility for employees who needed merchandise on demand.

The ultimate solution? Transitioning to an on-demand platform, which enabled immediate production and fulfillment while maintaining cost efficiency.

The Solution

Implementing an On-Demand E-Commerce Platform for Instant Order Processing

To eliminate long wait times and improve efficiency, Grossman Marketing Group transitioned DEKA’s employee merchandise store to an on-demand e-commerce platform—completely removing the need for pre-produced inventory. Instead of waiting for batch orders, we implemented a system where:

  • Orders are produced on demand, with no pre-stocked inventory required.

  • Items are printed and fulfilled immediately, dramatically cutting turnaround times.

  • Employees get faster, more flexible ordering without waiting for bulk runs.

  • Delivery times dropped to just two weeks, significantly improving satisfaction.

This new system made employee ordering seamless, ensuring DEKA-branded merchandise was always available without excess stock or delays.

The Results

By shifting to on-demand e-commerce, DEKA achieved:

  • Faster fulfillment – Orders shipped in two weeks, rather than waiting for batch processing.

  • Lower costs – Reduced shipping and operational expenses by eliminating bulk order inefficiencies.

  • Complete flexibility – Employees could place individual orders anytime, with immediate production and no need for pre-stocked inventory.

This transition transformed DEKA’s employee merchandise experience, proving that modern, on-demand solutions are the future of corporate e-commerce.
